Tourist passes (short visits)

If you're here briefly — or have visitors — these bundle attractions and transit. They're for international visitors only (passport ID required) and usually run on a countdown timer once activated.

  • Discover Seoul Pass: free entry to 50+ attractions (palaces, museums, towers, theme parks) within 24/48/72 hours, plus 10–50% off 100+ sites, and an optional T-money transit function. Worth it only if you'll pack in several paid attractions per day.
  • Trip.PASS / WOWPASS / Korea Tour Card: prepaid cards that combine transit + payments and top up with foreign cards — handy since regular T-money can't be reloaded with an overseas card. Some add attraction discounts and mobile tax refunds.
  • Reality check: read reviews before buying — passes only pay off with a packed sightseeing schedule, and popular attractions can have long queues regardless.
Resident tip: once you have your ARC, most tourist passes stop making sense. Your savings come from free-admission days, resident transit cards, and membership/loyalty programs instead — see below.

Free & cheap culture (residents & visitors)

  • Culture Day (문화가 있는 날): the last Wednesday of each month — free or discounted entry to palaces, museums, and cinemas nationwide.

  • National & many public museums (National Museum of Korea, MMCA on certain days) are free.
